Should I scrub carpet stains?
Scrubbing isn’t always your friend!
It might feel like the quickest way to tackle a stain, but scrubbing can:
• Push the stain deeper
• Damage carpet fibres
• Spread the stain further
Instead, gently blot the spill with a clean cloth or paper towel to absorb as much as possible.
It’s also important not to leave the stain untreated. The longer a spill sits, the more time it has to soak into the carpet fibres and, in some cases, the underlay. This can make it much more difficult to remove and may lead to lingering stains or odours.
If you’re unsure, the sooner a professional can assess and treat the stain, the better the chance of achieving the best possible result.

How long do carpets take to dry?
With proper equipment and training steam cleaned carpets will dry even in cold Tasmanian winters! Kingborough Carpet Care use modern truck-mounted equipment for powerful results. Our system controls moisture and impoves drying time. On average around 6 to 8hrs.
We also recommend placing your heater on or opening windows for some extra airflow to improve drying times.

the Danger of 'at home' carpet spot cleaners
Store-bought spot cleaners seem like a quick fix... but they can actually damage carpet. They often have a bleaching agent in them causing discolouration. After a professional clean the discolouration can appear even brighter. Making a once removable stain more noticeable and likely permanent.
At Home Spot Cleaners can leave behind a sticky residue that attracts more dirt - so the stain comes back again and again. As it dries the stain will likely travel back up to the surface. This is called wicking or resoilling.
Different stains also need different treatments and chemicals. Using the wrong product can cause discolouration, bleaching or even set the stain making it permanent. Basic ‘At Home’ spot cleaners will not break down pet urine crystals properly resulting in ongoing odours. So what do we recommend?
We recommend blotting a stain with a clean towel. Press firmly to absorb as much as possible. Lightly dampen the area with water and blot again. If the stain reappears or cannot be removed. Contact your local IICRC trained professional to treat using appropriate chemicals and to extract using hot water. Not every stain can be fully removed however hot water extraction is the most effective! Removal can depend on what caused the stain and how long it has been in the carpet.
